What is §112 Fredrikstad?
§112 Fredrikstad is an arts and culture festival that asks a simple yet powerful question: Are we good ancestors? The festival is a triennial, taking place every three years, and was held for the first time in 2024. In autumn 2027, the second edition will be arranged, with freedom of expression and democracy as the overarching themes. Through artistic expressions, cultural experiences, debates, and participatory activities, the festival explores questions such as: Who gets to speak? How do we see and understand each other? What shapes the relationship between minority and majority? What values connect us?
Can culture save the world? And should it, really?
From May to October 2024, the arts and culture festival §112 Fredrikstad was held for the first time. Then, it was time to evaluate and reflect. We went into this project with the ambition that arts and culture is a way to save the world. Could it be possible?

§112 Fredrikstad er en ny kunst- og kulturarena, som over fire måneder i 2024 har utforsket om vi er gode forfedre. Bakteppet er grunnlovens miljøparagraf, og gjennom kulturopplevelser, samtaler, folkemøter og debatt har §112 presentert klimaspørsmålene for publikum på en ny måte.
